Time is EVERYTHING!

They say time is everything, well, I agree! We, as teenagers tend to be disorganized both in time and space. I cannot deny that part of our lives, but as we grow up, we learn the importance of time management and how it can make our lives so much easier.

Time is a very abstract idea that is hard to understand, hard to handle for some. But if you understand the concept of time, you shall do great things with its help. Well, I personally found a quote that explained it all, it was only then that I became friendly with time, as Anon says: “Time is God's way of keeping everything from happening at once”. Like it or not, time is a big part of our lives. As the legendary Marilyn Monroe says: “I’ve been on a calendar but I have never been on time”. That is basically how messy we can be, but again, once you manage time, you can do anything and everything in its proper way.

So many philosophers talked about time, wrote about time, even sang about it! But we do not listen; we do not apply, until the hard moments arrive. As Benjamin Franklin said “Lost time is never found again”. I shall explain how this complicated abstract idea became one of my greatest weapons. Well, all a person has to do is ORGANISE, spend some moments on composing a calendar of yours. Aiming the objectives of your hour, day, week or month and most importantly, stick to your objectives as much as you can. It is that simple but some can’t seem to handle it.

“Time is on my side, yes it is” as Mick Jaggar said. Well, the truth is time isn’t exactly on our side if we abuse it. But if we can use it properly, it can be on our side. I personally began organizing my time, but I’m still not perfectly organized when it come to messy days. “Every accomplishment starts with a decision to try” I remember, and it is why I always try harder and harder to organize my time.

How justice should be done in Egypt?

I’m not the kind of person who remembers particular names or numbers in politics, but what I do know is that the previous heads of Egypt which includes the followers of Mubarak did use their power for their own guilty pleasure. A lot of amounts of money had been stolen because of them. Now that everyone in Egypt knows this truth. They are trapped, in prison and ready to be trialed. But how is it going to work? or at least how it should from my point of view.

After the followers of Mubarak had been imprisoned, they asked to get out and be free in exchange of an amount of money. But we have to keep in mind that for the last 30 years, the money that was supposedly given to the people had disappeared into the pockets of the “power class” of the country. Can we really trust them this time? In my point of view, it is possible to accept this solution, but in one condition, that the money DO GET BACK TO THE PEOPLE!

Of course, this is not the safe way to play justice, neither the right way, it is why, I do believe strongly in the fact that they should be trialed and live in prison for at least what they have done to the country. Whatever it costs, justice should be done, and this offer should not be accepted. Money cannot always save you or guaranty your power. Let’s not do the same mistake as before.

What is Bullying? (Personal project)

For my C5 personal project, I’ve chosen to write a book. What is the book about? As many of you don’t know, I’m treating the problem of “Bullying” in all countries including in Egypt. Most of you won’t recognize the word the first time, less if it was in French “intimidation”. But I’ll give you a brief summary about what bullying is!

Bullying is simply an act of wickedness. When someone superior treat the inferior in a bad way. For boys, it can be easily seen, because they use direct violence than indirect ways of bullying. But for girls, it is hard to be recognized, because girls tend to use peers relations in order to hurt the victim. In this case, the bullying can be verbal. In fact, the word “gay” is the most used word between teens to bully each other.

Don’t think that bullying isn’t an actual problem. Most of you don’t know that bullying hurt, words hurt, not only physically but also mentally. Bullying causes some severe cases of depression; it also triggers some feelings like sadness, anxiousness, insecurity and low self-esteem. You should also know that 50% of children and teenagers suicides are caused by bullying.

Bullying mostly occurs at school, but today, it merges thought the internet, this kind of bullying is called “cyber-bullying”. It is harder to indentify and treat, because internet is an extended community.

A lot of you after reading this part would say “Naa, there’s no bullying in Egypt”, but unfortunately, there is, and it’s growing stronger. I’ve lived it, I’ve seen it and I know people that are bullied every day. And those people are mostly the ones that are excluded from the community. It is why you don’t see it. Along with my book, I’ve explained why teenagers bully and what the consequences of bullying are. I’ve also explained the solution’s that can be applied and analyzed the problem in Egypt.

What are the qualities I would like to see in a friend?

We all have those people who we call “our friends”, but the truth hides underneath all of us, are they really something that mean a lot to us or not? Here how it works for me:

A friend isn’t just someone you spend time with; it’s also someone who truly sees who you really are and accepts it in every way. Rather than seeing the imperfection, a friend sees the perfect you in every way. Sure we get some bumps in the middle of the friendship, but a true friend will accept it and will forgive you. For me, stick to a person or a commitment made in the friendship itself is loyalty based on trust. Therefore I see trust as the most important quality that allows a friendship grow stronger. The likes and dislikes of a person shouldn’t interrupt the friendship as long as the two are connected somehow.

In the same time, friendship is not a fairy tale; it can turn badly even if all those qualities I would like to see in a friend are present. People say that you will get hurt badly by someone at some point even by your loved ones, as much as friendship is essential, it can cause pain, hurt, guilt, anger. Bravery should deny the fear of those downfalls of a friendship. No one should be afraid of loving, as much as it can be the most amazing thing in the world it can also be the most painful feeling you’ve ever had.

To conclude, I see love, trust, honesty, loyalty, bravery etc… the best personality traits that I can find in a friend’s personality, that way; it allows us to go beyond things.

Constitution: should it come first or last in Egypt?

Basically, a constitution is a plan that provides the rules for the government. It is essential for a country to work in a proper way. Egypt, known as having one of the earliest administrative and legislative codes in the history wrote its first constitution in 1923. It was called back then as the liberal constitution of 1923. But a lot of evolution happened along the way.

Egypt, being a country in a state of instability needs a new constitution and a new president. After Mubarak was kicked out of his thrown due to the massive manifestations beginning of 25th of January (2011), a as soon as it came, Egyptians knew a new revolution is happening. Should we write the constitution first or elect the president?

As the difficult situation of Egypt is growing badly, it is in my opinion we should rewrite the constitution first to make sure that it does respond to the people’s wish without the interference of any politician with any power. This politician would mean a president. Egypt can blow up easily in any time if a situation happens against the will of the people. It is why, the constitution, once it is written and accepted by the people, meaning not any appearance of manifestations of any kind about the constitution.

Only then the election can begin, whoever the president is, he won’t have much power over the constitution. That way, Egypt can build herself again and be in a state of peace, prosperity and stability between it's different corners .

New Year's Resolution: Is it necessary??

It is common in our community to write on a piece of paper our new objectives or some changes we want to work on for the New Year. I, myself, do not believe in New Year’s resolution. Yes, indeed, I’ve done bunch of resolutions in French, English and Arabic class as an assignment, but they haven’t been so useful till this day. Why do we need a new start to set a new goal? A question I have asked myself many times. But is the New Year considered as a fresh start?

No, I’ve lived 15 years of my life and experienced 15 times New Year; some had experienced 70 New Years or even more, is it so much of an importance? Most of us do not even appreciate it, we wake, have fun, work, watch TV, eat and whatever a human being can possibly do and then sleep, the same day as the 364 we had gone through out year. For me, a fresh start does not relate to a particular day or time. It more comes with a situation we had lived and try to let it go somehow whatever was the time or the place.

Of course, I’m not saying New Year is useless, in the contrary, New Year can be something special, and it can be fun, romantic, crazy. As long as someone is enjoying it, it is fine. But New Year’s resolution itself does not mean that much for me. If we are willing to change, we will do it at any price, New Year shouldn’t be the thing that reminds us so.

Globalization

Globalization is a tool that countries can benefit a lot with. With Globalization they are able to wider the markets and consumers to a greater variety of goods and services. It is also a key force in promoting worldwide economic development. As much as it is beneficial, not everybody can benefit from it. Indeed, developing countries are the least to benefit from it, when they are the most ones who need it, and it creates some sort of a great unbalance between countries. But, is globalization good or bad?

Personally, I do not take a side about this topic, yes it good and yes it is bad, we just have to adjust. I think that globalization has a positive effect for a lot of reasons. First of all, it is a key force in promoting worldwide economic development; it does give the opportunity of work as millions of jobs were given in Malaysia and Mexico for phone services. With the help of those positive effects, an amount of 2 trillion dollars was transferred from rich to poor countries. Globalization offers us a variety of choices in a lot of industries in a cheaper price, which is surprisely amazing.

Second of all, as much as globalization has some benefits, it also causes some problems, you may have noticed that the price of oil increased that last decade, well, it is not only due to the limit of the resources but also the effect of globalization on the OPEC organization of oil. With globalization, they have the power to control the prices all over the world, which is a benefit to them but not to the people. Also, globalization caused a lot of major damages to poor countries, part in human rights and environment. It also causes a lot of violent protests all over the world.

Finally, I do believe that globalization has positive effects on nations, but as I always say, we need to create balance, not too much, not too less. Off course, globalization is out of hand, but as humans, we need to control it in order to create balance.

Christmas Break!!! an amazing time for family and friends

Usually, on Christmas break, we travel to Dahab or the white desert, but we didn’t this time. Instead we mostly stayed at home. Most people would see it as boring, but it was a special vacation for me. Starting my vacation, I didn’t have any time for some rest or sleep. I directly went to a friend’s house. And I slept over at her house. She was planning to have a big party at her villa on Christmas Eve. I remember her little sister who was actually snoring! It was so funny. The next morning we decorated the room. It literally went from white to red and green. We had partied all day.  Everyone was there, younger to older; it was as if a group of people gathered on Christmas Eve to make it very special!

On New Year’s Eve, I invited a couple of friends at my house, even though they are supposed to be with their families, they came over. We dined; actually we ate French traditional food which we do every year on Christmas and New Year. Believe it or not, we do celebrate both 25th December and 6 January due to my different backgrounds. We didn’t celebrate yet 6 of January because today is still the 5th. But Christmas break for me is a time to enjoy family and traditions; it is special just because Jesus was born at this time, and not because of anything else.
